Thoughts on nests

Nests
Seagulls at the harbor
on the Baltic Sea, on the North Sea
Seagulls that you must not feed
Seagulls that take everything
from people's garbage
or directly from the fish sandwich in hand
skillfully in a dive
Seagulls, indeed.
I saw her during a festival.
At the harbor, she heard wailing and screeching.
we moved on
they continued to complain
back at the harbor
suddenly quiet
But in the old town they are screaming
in every alley, every morning
now nothing but the cries of seagulls
Born by the sea, at home by the sea
Do I want to complain about this?
They chose the rooftops.
because it had become too noisy at the harbor
They screech louder than any alarm clock.
and they get on everyone's nerves
But seagulls, they are seagulls
Please do not feed them!
We simply forgot
to tell them
where they are not allowed to scream
and while we are still asleep
are they loud
Are they awake and speaking?
Speaking frankly to the people
with the cruise ships
with the flashing rides
with the fish sandwich holders
with the two-legged ones
on their stone nests
they have built a nest
What do they love about us?
that they stay?
I want to go to the sea
and the language of the gulls
understand and be free
Free
from closing the window
from birds
I want to spread my wings
and open all windows
Free
nests upon nests
Noise upon noise
Thought upon thought
Free
in the nest of sounds and thoughts.
